Regardless of political affiliations , yesterday was momentous...astounding and fraught with meaning. As Obama stood where Lincoln stood in 1861 and there before him the very bible upon which Lincoln placed his hand, history was made. Lincoln was committed to taking steps to remove the sin of slavery from this nation...to give all americans the right to dream of higher things...and there was Obama living out what is the fruition of those long ago longings. Thank you for posting this incredible picture!
Hi twofinches,
I was alone in my living room watching the TV. When he got sworn in I stood up with the crowd. It's a new day!
Such a beautiful family. Such hope .. I wish them well, and I pray for their safety. He was very brave to do this, as the first of anything, as relating to "blacks" in America, is very dangerous. The first step is good, but .....
Hi Amias,
I know what you mean. When he, and Hillary were running against each other, I noticed something on national news. It was very short about a bomb threat to his campaign headquarters. I then researched articles from about a 2 week period of time, and what I saw was chilling. I started to write a post about it, but never posted it because I was afraid that it might detour a few people from voting for him.
Some crazy's want him gone for several reasons. 1) He's black 2) Some think he's Muslims, and associated that with 911 (terrorists). 3) Some think he's Muslims & the anti-Christ. 4) Some Muslim terrorist want him dead because they are afraid of is influence over Muslim terrorist.
I'm very glad that he has the best security of any president, but I still am afraid for him & his family. I believe it is just a matter of time before someone tries to assassinate him. I hope unsuccessfully.
When he, and his wife got out of the car to wave to the crowd yesterday; I keep thinking, "Get back in the car. Get safe. Get back in the car. Get safe." I got a bit panicky after a while.
What a wonderful WW!
