I’ve been catching myself humming lately, just unconsciously humming a nice tune. It happens often now. It’s a little thing, but something I don’t remember doing during times of depression. It’s another little sign of recovery to me, and a nice thing to have back in my life. . Click here for Hummingbird by Seals & Crofts (YouTube) . photo credit
I love the 60's and early 70's. This is one of the greatest songs ever. I believe that Dionne Farris sings it. She is gorgeous and her singing sends me to another dimension.
I know it's not Friday, but I need a laugh. Maybe you could use one too? ;)
Nice Gazongas By Gigglepixie (hey go visit her!) Two nuns are ordered to paint a room in the convent, and the last instruction of the Mother Superior is that they must not get even a drop of paint on their habits.
After conferring about this for a while, the two nuns decide to lock the door of the room, strip off their habits, and paint in the nude. In the middle of the project, there comes a knock at the door.
“Who is it?” calls one of the nuns.
“Blind man,” replies a voice from the other side of the door.
The two nuns look at each other and shrug, and, deciding that no harm can come from letting a blind man into the room, they open the door.
“Nice gazongas,” says the man. “Where do you want these blinds?”

I do not have a hickey! by Awake
I'm doing fine, but I do not have a hickey! My nails are longer then usual, and I guess a bit jagged. Yesterday I had an itch on my neck, and scratched it. Today it looks like a hickey. I went on the bus trip today with a bunch of senior citizens, so I kept on pulling the collar of my coat up to hide it. One lady kept looking back to talk to the couple in front of me. When she did I turned my head towards the window so she couldn't see it. No folks, I didn't get lucky. I just had an itch, and scratched it.
When I went to the bar tonight, I noticed this old boy about 75-80 years sitting all alone in the corner and he was crying over his cocktail.
I stopped and asked him what was wrong.
He said: "I have a 22 year old lover at home. I met him a month or so ago, right here in this very bar!" He continued; "He makes love to me every morning and then he makes me pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit and freshly ground, brewed coffee."
I said: "Well, then why are you crying?"
He said: "He makes me homemade soup for lunch and my favorite brownies and then he makes love to me half the afternoon."
I said: "Well, so why are you crying?"
He said: "For dinner he makes me a gourmet meal with wine and my favorite dessert and then he makes love to me until 2:00 am."
I said: "Well, for goodness sakes! Why in the world would you be CRYING!"
And he said: "I CAN'T REMEMBER WHERE I LIVE!"

Oh, President Bush! One last thing before you leave office. Did you ever answer Pink? Because many of her questions are mine too. And I've been really wondering....
Dear Mr. President by Pink
Dear Mr. President Come take a walk with me Let's pretend we're just two people and You're not better than me I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep What do you feel when you look in the mirror Are you proud
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye How do you walk with your head held high Can you even look me in the eye And tell me why
Dear Mr. President Were you a lonely boy Are you a lonely boy Are you a lonely boy Are you a lonely boy How can you say No child is left behind We're not dumb and we're not blind They're all sitting in your cells While you pave the road to hell
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay I can only imagine what the first lady has to say You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye How do you walk with your head held high Can you even look me in the eye
Let me tell you bout hard work Minimum wage with a baby on the way Let me tell you bout hard work Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away Let me tell you bout hard work Building a bed out of a cardboard box Let me tell you bout hard work Hard work Hard work You don't know nothin bout hard work Hard work Hard work Ohhh
How do you sleep at night How do you walk with your head held high Dear Mr. President You'd never take a walk with me would u
Due to the suicide of Jeri Suzanne Horne (Liquid Illuzion), I have asked someone to guest post about suicide. I'm crossing my fingers that they will. Meanwhile, I am reposting the only post that I have on the subject. I have added some links at the end. Obviously, I'm barely touching on the subject. I'm so glad that Liquid had/has a good sense of humor, because this post is an odd mixture.

Did you see the Grey's Anatomy season final? If you didn't, don't worry, I won't revel a great deal here. Just my favorite, and lest favorite scenes.
My favorite scene was the kiss between Erica Hahn, and Callie Torres. (I'm predictable, ha?) I think Torres is hot!
My least favorite scene was between Meredith, and her shrink. Meredith had a revelation, and realized that when her mother cut her wrist it was to get attention. After all she was a "excellent surgical nurse", and would have cut her -----, if she meant it. I hate that scene for several reasons.
1) If someone tries to commit suicide they are not in a rational state of mind, and they might try to kill themselves by any means. It might not be the most logic means. It should be seen as a serious attempt, and not just an attention getter.
2) They mention a more effective way to commit suicide then cutting wrists. I hate that! I don't want to mention it. Oh, I knew it before, but someone not so familiar with anatomy and who saw the program might not have considered it. It might have given someone who is suicidal a deadly idea. You've heard of copy cat murders? Well, I'm sure that there are copy cat suicides. Well, at least Meredith didn't point to the area.
Did you know that the suicide rate in the U.S. is twice as large as the homicide rate? (There are an estimated 8-25 attempted suicides to one completion.) It is hidden, a stigma is still attached. I mean, when is the last time you read the obits, and saw that someone committed suicide? It's all swept under the rug.
"Suicide is the eleventh most common cause of death in the United States. People may consider suicide when they are hopeless and can't see any other solution to their problems. Often it's related to serious depression, alcohol or substance abuse, or a major stressful event.
People who have the highest risk of suicide are white men, though women and teens report more suicide attempts. If someone talks about suicide, you should take it seriously. Urge them to get help from their doctor or the emergency room, or call 911.
Therapy and medicines can help most people who have suicidal thoughts. Treating mental illnesses and substance abuse can reduce the risk of suicide.
These past few days every time I turn on the National new I've heard about the terrible weather in Seattle. It's always the first place mentioned, so I asked my blog buddy Kim to write about it, and this was her response.
This is my 1st guest post so please help me to welcome her by visit Kim at http://asthepumpturns.com

"Here's the thing about native Northern Californians, there are two breeds. The first being the kind that get snow and the others that don't.
I am from the land of No Snow. It's a nice place filled with grapevines and mild temperature winters. Basically, heaven.
Then I moved to Seattle, Washington.
Now, maybe I am blowing this out of proportion, this Seattle Winter Snow Storm. People in Chicago and other mid-west states are getting it far worse then I am, but this is my blog post and I can whine if I want too. Not to mention on twitter it has it's own hash tag, so it must be important, right? Agree with me people.
So here's the lowdown on the Seattle Snow Storm or for my twitter peeps #seatst, yes it's snowing, in Seattle. So far, by my estimates about a foot overall, however, I am not a meteorologist, so don't quote me. The way that downtown Seattle is laid out, is that, well, there are a lot of hills, like First Hill, Beacon Hill and Capital Hill, and the hills are, well, steep. Imagine, if you will, San Francisco, then add a foot of snow with a nice layer of ice underneath that. You have SNOWMAGEDDON. Yes, I named it Snowmageddon, it's catchy, huh?
Snowmageddon as struck and caused chaos in my city, meaning, people don't know how to drive in the snow/ice. I drive a Jeep Grande Cherokee with 4 wheel drive and believe me 4 wheel drive doesn't work on ice, don't kid yourself. Driving slow and in control does, which is what I have been doing, while also avoiding the crazy idiots who think it's okay to change lanes just as they would if it was overcast outside and also trying to drive 80 miles an hour with chains on, yeah it doesn‘t work. Also, if you see an ambulance sliding down a frozen over hill, I would suggest you and your Dodge Neon not attempt it, just sayin'. There is also the small little fact that the roads aren't very well maintained so driving down the main arterial streets is similar to four wheeling in the backcountry, I'm not exaggerating.
If you can't drive in it you might as well grab your skis and ski down the hill, right? Yeah, I've heard reports of it, haven't seen it yet, but heard about it, I have seen people taking plastic dinner trays and sliding down on them. Also, if you live in the ghetto, a freezer door works well too, interestingly enough.
Seattle was so not prepared for Snowmageddon 08, side streets are stuck in feet of snow, the main streets are filled with divots and almost impassable surfaces, yes, I know only a foot and a half of snow. Silly, right? Not to us, Seattleites, we have not gotten this much snow in many, many years. Some say the last big storm was five years ago, some say it was nothing close to this, who knows, really.
The amazing part of this whole ordeal is the sense of community one feels, we are not alone in this crazy snow. As I drove to work this morning, I see groups of people helping each other dig cars out of snow banks. I see people helping each other walk on icy sidewalks and laughing and throwing snowballs. It's an amazing sight among all the havoc. I guess this is what makes this place so special, to me, anyway."
I knew the date, but the significance of it didn't hit me until tonight. My reaction was to say SOB out loud. And you know I don't swear much. You died today. How many years has it been? You died in 1981. I almost forgot. I almost made it though the day. But I didn't. I remembered. SOB! For a second a few memoirs of the night you died swept in, and I began to tear up. Another year has gone by without my mother, and best friend.
Sometimes I wonder how my life would have changed if you were still in it. I probably would have gone on to more college. Would I have been open about my sexuality with you? Would I have suppressed it for a longer time? I don't know how my life would have changed, but I bet it would have changed mostly for the better.
Yes, it gets easier with time. Most days I don't even think of you. Then other days I really wish you were still here on earth. I've come to realize that I've suppressed some of the memoirs I've had of you. Subconsciously, I've taken some of the best memories and locked them deep in my mind. Somehow I know that. I would not be as sane as I am if I remembered you well, and knew that I'd never see you again on earth. Seems like a sick, cruel, joke. So I remember your 10 year fight with cancer. I remember several surgeries, several bouts of chemo, and radiation therapy. Told in the hospital room to be careful not to knock over the glass bottle and brake it because you just had part of your lung removed, and your lung would collapse if I got clumsy. I felt your venerability. I remember you walking with the quad-cane, then wheel chair, then bedridden with a catheter. Paralyzed from the waist down by that tumor on your spine. That last month that you could hardly eat a thing except for custard that the neighbor made. Refusing food. And that night that you died. And all through it, you tried to remain positive, enjoy your loved ones, believing God would heal you. I remember mostly the bad times because It would hurt to much to have a clear memory of the good times.
When you died a part of me died with you. I can't name the part of me that died, but it was something good, vital that is now gone. Maybe forever. So be it! Maybe in heaven it's not so easy for you to be without your only child. Maybe you needed that piece of me. That's fine! You keep it mom. When we are reunited it will all workout, and be clear.
Your loving daughter forever...

My good blog buddy, and Twitter buddy Meleah Rebeccah is on vacation in Mexico. It's a lavish family vacation five star style. Wow! You can read about it at her blog called Momma Mia Mea Culpa. Well, you know the old saying, "When the cats away, the mice will play." The beautiful Meleah recently directed me to her YouTube video. So while she's away, I just couldn't help but let you have a peek too. She has real talent! Of course she has taken her computer with her so we can keep up with her adventures of Mexico at her blog. By the way, is she naked in that bathtub?

Originally I just wanted to post some photos of the pretty governor so that I could l@@k at her once more. Do you blame me? But wait! I caught wind of some headlines. In fact many newspapers are saying that she will run for President in 2012. Some even speculate Palin vs. Clinton in 20012. Two female Presidential contenders!? I'll be in estrogen heaven!
Palin in 2012? You betcha! She's the darling of social conservatives, a Republican rock star. She is still pulling thousand into McCain Rallies, but they're not coming to see him, she is the magnate.
The 44 year old, folksy, beauty has "electrified the Republican Party's conservative evangelical base -- its most reliable voting bloc."
"If they do in fact lose on Tuesday she becomes one of the central figures for 2012. Clearly, Palin is a star with the social conservatives but many of the country-club Republicans just find her completely unpalatable," said Matthew Wilson, a political scientist at Southern Methodist University in Dallas."
Does Palin want to be President? In her interview with Elizabeth Vargas of 20/20. Palin says, "I'm not doin' this for naught." Gov. Palin lacks polish, and knowledge, as well as experience. After all she was plucked out of obscure Alaska, and placed on the campaign trail faster then she could field dress a moose. But don't worry Republicans. Your party will prepare her for 2012. "Historically, "Republicans tend to pick the next guy in line," and, "strangely enough," Palin is the next guy in line. She'll be well financed and is "perfectly positioned" to run the "anti-government, anti-Washington campaign" that Republicans will call for after four years of Barack Obama." I just hope that after she's polished that she still winks at the camera. I just love that!
Disclaimer: This was not written with the intent of encouraging votes for her now, or in 2012. Although she may run for President, I won't be voting for her. I don't agree with many of her policies.
If you didn't see Ms. Couric's interview with Gov. Palin your not the only one. A lot of people missed it including me. I don't think that it was advertised very well. The first time I heard about it was from a political reporter that said that she gave a "bad" interview. I've heard several similar comments since. After watching it on YouTube I think that it was a weak interview, worse then the ABC Gibson interview. But you can watch it, and judge for yourself. Hmm, maybe Sen. McCain should have asked Katie Couric to be his running mate. ;o) The second video includes an excerpt of an interview former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger had.
Don't forget to catch Thursday's vice presidential debate Sen. Joe Biden VS. Gov. Sarah Palin. It ought to be a good one folks!
Sarah Palin CBS Interviewed by Katie Couric Part 1 (8 min)
Palin / Couric interview Part 2 with Henry Kissinger (10 min)
They showed Grey's Anatomy season final again. My favorite scene was the kiss between Doctor Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith), and Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez.) I'm predictable, ha? I think Torres is hot! The You Tube video has clips of the lesbian, (or bisexual) storyline leading up to the kiss as well as the kiss, (actually kisses).
If this post looks familiar it's a partial repeat. I just had to show it again since they did. ;)
So what is your prediction concerning Torres, and Hahn? This storyline is juicy so more should come of it. Hahn seemed to be talking about Cristina Yang a lot, so maybe some complication with Yang. What do you think will happen?
John Lennon, and Yoko Ono signing "Give Peace a Chance" live in Toronto in 1969. Eric Clapton on the guitar. (3:24 minutes)
I don't know about you folks, but I need a peace break. With all the wars going on. Presidential candidates at each other. Plus some minor bumps in the road in my life. I just need to sing this song a few times, and meditate on peace. Want to join me for a moment? "All we are saying is give peace a chance."
On Saturday Night Live first skit - Tina Fey as Sarah Palin & Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton address the nation. It's a riot! It was the only great skit. Usually SNL Season Premiers are great, this one was disappointing. Senator Obama canceled because of hurricane Ike, also disappointing. This video priceless!
Waring: This YouTube video contains profanity, and it may contain other offensive material. It's only 3 minutes long.
Is McCain Palin's Bitch?
I was made aware of this video by my cyber friend May of about a nurse. If your politically minded it might be to your advantage to check out her blog. I was surprised by her recent post. May is unusually honest, and open. (Hint)
Oh my God, check out this YouTube video! (about 4 minutes) tee hee
By the way. This in from A.P. news - "Charles Gibson's producer says no issue is off the table for Sarah Palin's first TV interview as a vice presidential candidate, which ABC is hoping it can air in part on Thursday. Gibson will travel to Alaska and will probably speak to Palin at least twice" I heard on ABC T.V. that it might also be on Friday's news, and more on Nightline. Oh, this should to be good! I'll be recording it.
Also from A.P. - "McCain leads Obama in 2 polls, race even in 3 more."
Enjoy the Video! ;o)
Relax folks! I'm still voting for Sen. Obama. However, that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy the heck out of another women making political history, and putting more cracks in that glass ceiling. Since half of our population are women I believe that half of our doctors, lawyers, CEO's, and politicians should be women. I just hope that this particular woman doesn't break the glass ceiling. I'm an issues person, and agree more with Obama. I have to admit that I'm also excited that we have a real race now.
It's not a good day physically (not feeling well), but mentally & emotionally I feel strong. Could it be that we are as strong, (mentally & emotionally), as we believe we are? Could it be that we can accomplish more if we just believe? Could it be that our perceptions of our self's and the world around us matter more then we think? Could it be that having a positive attitude, and trying, and showing up, is the majority of it?
If this post doesn't make sense I will blame it on not feeling well, and lack of sleep, and medication. ;o) But right now I think that I'm on to something. It seems so simple. Could it be that we are the ones who is making life so complicated? Breathe, just breathe...
