Slashed Car Tires At My Apartment Complex
My apartment complex use to be nice, but things have changed. Someone is slashing car tires, usually 2 - 4 tires per car. To date I know of 6 cars that had their ties slashed, but it's probably more. The last incident happened recently, and it involved two cars that were parked near mine. I'm getting nervous. I look out the window now and then, but missed it.
Since I'm often on the computer when I'm home. It occurred to me that I might be able to watch my car on my computer on a satellite map. I have looked at a few, and they were either to far away, or not in real time. Does anyone know of a good map where I can view my car clearly and in real time? Please let me know. I would appreciate it.

Hi LadyBanana,
Stoled your car with the babyseat in the back? Now that's cold!
This use to be such a nice place. Now we have to many jerks. My neighbor who we think is a drug dealer, was stinking up the apartment area by smoking weed. I wounder if I can get high from second hand smoke. LOL
Sorry to hear that .. sucks when people do these things.
Have you tried Google Earth or Google Maps. Both show satellite images, but they're not in real time though.
If you have a webcam, you can set it up to be your personal camera, :)
But I can't think of anything offhand that has real time feeds, maybe the U.S. Government might have something close to that, lol.
It would probably feel like Big Brother is watching ...
Hi -a,
Thanks for the tips. Yes, google isn't in real time unfortunately.
A webcam. I didn't think of that. I don't have one, and not sure if my old computer could support it. It would have to have a very long cord to reach my window.
You think that with all the technology we could have a close up map in real time.
Thanks for the comment! I appreciate you stopping by.
Years ago, someone burgled our house. The police said if they did it once, they would do it again, likely soon. For a while I would interrupt whatever I was doing during the day just to swing by the house. Eventually I gave up and, thankfully, the house was not struck again. Renewed & reinforced locks, security lights were all I came up with.
It’s a sign of the times, I’m afraid. One must just adjust the best one can, take reasonable cautions, and move on. It’s an easy trap to become paranoid.
Hi Tom,
I'm sorry that happened to you. What a terrible thing for the police to say.
I think that a webcam is a good idea, (mentioned by -a.) Unfortunately I don't have the money for it now. Heck, if people can watch a bird feeder with a webcam, I should be able to watch my car. I'm often on my computer when I'm home anyway.
You know, a good, strong deterrent is a video camera set up in the window. Oh, it doesn't have to be ON, or connected to anything, but a sign on the vehicle that says it's being watched via video camera through the window would be an excellent deterrent.
OR, web cams are so darned inexpensive, you could actually set one up to look out your window for you, and feed it directly to your computer.
OR, Radio Shack sells some high quality, low cost "surveillance" equipment that is easy to install and easy to use.
Hi Pat,
Good to hear from you stranger. ;o) Glad your enjoying the summer.
Those are good ideas, but my Apt. window is not close to my car. So they won't see it. Besides I think it's some young people that are high, and they won't care.
Yeah, good to be back in the swing again. Since I've returned to blogging, I've got my own personal troll on my blog. Comes with the territory, I s'pose.
Hi Pat,
Sorry to hear that you have a troll. That can be difficult. I hope he leaves you alone soon.
I love that picture. But is that really you? It just looks to staged...
Sorry this happened...
I'll go with staged...
But seriously. Who does this to people. Is it just that they want to cause people harm? Are they unaware of the impact? Are they screams for attention?
I'm thinking we need a serious investment in the young people of Rochester NY. There seems to be so many shootings and drug stuff. How is Rochester going to pull out of this?
