What Music Uplifts You?

As you may know, I suffer from depression. I like music, and that it can be very uplifting. It can be a type of therapy. I listen to the radio, but don't have many CD's. I am looking for some uplifting music. Do you have any ideas? I especially like soft rock, and oldies, sometimes Christian music. It's hard to find something with uplifting lyrics. What do you listen to that brings you out of a bad mood? (What album, or artist, etc.)

Join me on Twitter! It's mini blogging. People blog in a few short sentences about their lives. Because it's so fast people tend to twitter often, about a variety of things, and almost the moment it happens. You can also IM each other, and add twitter to your cell phone. What a great way to network, get personal updates, and stay in touch! Twitter isn't perfect, it has a few bugs in it's system. So if you have problems just come back to Twitter later. Did you see the Grey's Anatomy season final? If you didn't, don't worry, I won't revel a great deal here. Just my favorite, and lest favorite scenes.

My favorite scene was the kiss between Erica Hahn, and Callie Torres. (I'm predictable, ha?) I think Torres is hot!

My least favorite scene was between Meredith, and her shrink. Meredith had a revelation, and realized that when her mother cut her wrist it was to get attention. After all she was a "excellent surgical nurse", and would have cut her -----, if she meant it. (or similar words). I hate that scene for several reasons.

1) If someone tries to commit suicide they are not in a rational state of mind, and they might try to kill themselves by any means. It might not be the most logic means. It should be seen as a serious attempt, and not just an attention getter.

2) They mention a more effective way to commit suicide then cutting wrists. I hate that! I don't want to mention it. Oh, I knew it before, but someone not so familiar with anatomy and who saw the program might not have considered it. It might have given someone who is suicidal a deadly idea. You've heard of copy cat murders? Well, I'm sure that there are copy cat suicides. Well, at least Meredith didn't point to the area.

Did you know that the suicide rate in the U.S. is twice as large as the homicide rate? (There are an estimated 8-25 attempted suicides to one completion.) It is hidden, a stigma is still attached. I mean, when is the last time you read the obits, and saw that someone committed suicide? It's all swept under the rug.

Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy Has a Brain Tumor

It was just announced on TV, and has only hit a few Internet papers, but Sen. Ted Kennedy has a cancerous brain tumor. Please pray for him, and his family. As you may know, the 76 year old is the last of the four famous Kennedy bothers, and is an icon. His most famous brother was John Kennedy, a former president who was assassinated in 1963. The Kennedy family has been plagued by tragic deaths. He has been an outspoken, highly reverie, Democrat Senator for almost 50 years. He also ran for president in 1980.

"A cancerous brain tumor caused the seizure Sen. Edward M. Kennedy suffered over the weekend, doctors said Tuesday in a grim diagnosis for one of American politics' most enduring figures.

Doctors for the Massachusetts Democrat say tests conducted after Kennedy suffered a seizure this weekend show a tumor in his left parietal lobe. Preliminary results from a biopsy of the brain identified the cause of the seizure as a malignant glioma.

His treatment will be decided after more tests but the usual course includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy..."

I went to the Lilac Festival (in Rochester, New York)

Thursday I went to the Lilac Festival in Highland Park, Rochester, NY. Admission is free. (Sorry, I don't own a camera so no personal photos). I blogged about the Festival very recently on Wordless Wednesday, which wasn't so wordless. I went to Monroe Community College, (MCC), to use the shuttle bus, but the shuttles are only used on weekends. It took me awhile, and a prayer to find a free parking spot, but got one right across the street from the festival. They also have lots of free parking about a mile away, but I'm not use to walking. It was my first real outing since winter, and I have not exercised at all this winter.

Admittedly It's not my favorite festival. I'm not crazy about Lilacs. I did liked the magnolias, and bell shaped flowers better. I like to go to this festival because it is the first of the season, and gets me in the festival mood.

I went on "Wine 'N Blues Day Farmers Market" day. There was wine tasting, and food samples from New York state wineries, and food vender's. Now that was a real plus! There was also live music in the background. I had samplings of cheese, different mustard's on pretzels, various salsas on taco chips, a small salad. I had maple butter and maple syrups, chocolate chip cookies, bar crackers, power bar pieces, and more. Free samples of multi vitamins and hair conditioner, and much more. And of course wine samples, and more wine samples. I estimated 8 wine booths. I was feeling good ;o) At a "Cooks Pan" (?) demonstration they gave out free chicken, and veggie samples. Mmm, my tummy was full!

Heads up, the last day for the Lilac Festival is this Sunday, May 18. You might take a look at the online schedule, and the weather report. Some showers are expected, but not a washout. The weekend offers lots of events for the kids. Have FUN!
