Storm Hits Rochester, NY - Snow, No Ice

myspace layouts

myspace layouts

A winter storm warning is in effect all day for the Rochester, NY area.
Highlights...

-- 4 to 8 inches by 7pm.
-- Snow all day Wednesday.
-- Heaviest snow 8am to 3pm.
-- Total snowfall 8 to 12 inches.

On the news they said that the morning commute will be "manageable". However, we have had a inch or two of snow and roads are slick, so slow down. It's not until later that the brunt of the storm will hit. The good news is that Metro Rochester will not get ice. The souther tier might get a mixture of snow & ice. The power should stay on for the most part. Highs around 30. Winds will be 10 to 15 mph. As Rochester goes, this is a good size storm, but not one of our worst. For more weather click on the link below. A live weather blog will be on the link soon.

This information is from News 8.

We also were hit by this storm. Delays and cancellations are everywhere. I hope you stay safe and warm!

Hugs, I loved your tribute to your friend. I feel honored that you chose my painting for your tribute.

Thank you.

I haven't been a snow person since I was a child ... I don't think I could hang unless I was very wealthy and didn't have to go outside.

You take care, and bundle up!

Argh...this is ridiculous! I was out shoveling the snow and feeling the futility of it as it fell constantly behind me. I managed to figure out how to put photos on my blog today and so put up pictures of before and after all my work! I wrote about how life sometimes reminds me of shoveling in a blizzard (the contented nest, not the glass house)

Winter is dangerous out here. They don't even want us going outside! It's a conspiracy, man! They're controlling the weather and keeping us inside our homes for some sinister plot!

Many moons ago, when I was in school, my friend wrote a short story about a guy that was killed by an icicle. Apparently, today that actually happened! Somebody fell on ice or something, and the ice pierced his chest and killed him. Seriously. I didn't see the news report, but I know someone who did.

Be careful out there. It's the cold, white, even translucent, death out there!

I just plug in my Christmas tree lights. Gee, I wish that I had Christmas songs to play- "Oh the weather outside is frightful, But the fire is so delightful..."

Hi Tracy,

Thanks for allowing me to have that tribute, and for your beautiful picture!

Be careful driving if you go out in this mess.

L'uragano (The Hurricane),

Wecome!

Good to see you! At lest we don't have the ice last year here. We had a great deal of mixture snow/ice storms last year, which are harder to dig out of. I'm just glad it's not like that this year.

Hi Amias,

I grew up in Rochester, but it's still difficult to handle sometimes. Especially since we don't see much of the sun.

Today I'm glad that I'm not getting much work. I'm staying inside today. ;)

When I lived in Syracuse, I never got a single snow day! But we got maybe an inch of slush here in Philly, and the entire city shuts down. I remember one year in Boston we got 4 ft of snow in a few hours, then an ice storm...the ice crust on the snow was so thick you could walk on top of it!

Hi twofinches,

I just took a look. It looks good! I've been in all day, but peek out my window. I can hear the Apt. snow plow go by often.

Hi dcr,

HELLO PA! Long time no see. ;)

"It's a conspiracy, man! They're controlling the weather and keeping us inside our homes for some sinister plot!" I've been wondering about that. They can make it rain, so they must have figured out how to make it snow. LOL!

I didn't hear about the death by ice. I'm going to have to catch the news.

Hi A.

It amazes me how some cities get snowed in, that only get an inch or two of snow. Maybe the cities are trying to save money, but people lose work over it.

SE Australia is having massive heat waves. Days and days of 40 plus temperatures, not sure what that is in F, but it's extreme heat. Wish we could send you a few Cs and you could send us some of that snow :)

Hi Health Psych,

Ek! That's 104F Good grief! You must have many clients because anyone in that heat for long is bound to go nutz. I'm sending 100 truck loads of snow your way. If you want any more just ask. We have an over abundance of it here. ;)

Living on a tropical island, I dream of snow. After reading the damages caused by snow in several blogs, I'm glad it doesn't snow in Singapore. haha....

Hi EastCoastLife,

I enjoy the four seasons, but not to this degree. ;)
