Awake

I guess my name is appropriate. Originally I chose it because I often work the night shift, so I'm up when everyone else is sleeping. I also have bouts of insomnia. But lately it's been different. I just don't want to go to bed. I mean physically in bed. When I'm in bed, and all is quiet my mind focuses on the problem, and things aren't that good. It tries to dig for the answer that just doesn't seem to be in my brain right now. It's like a sadistic hide and seek game. So lately I'm online, or watching TV. until exhaustion wins, and I fall asleep in the most comfortable chair in the world, my old beat up Lazyboy. I sleep with the remote in my hand. Three times this week I've pressed record on my DVD/VCR player. I guess I've been sleep taping, as opposed to sleep walking. Now if I can only figure out how to sleep house clean, I'll be all set.

Hi LadyBanana,

That sounds like a splendid idea!

Of course some very pleasurable activity would help a great deal too. ;)

Hi Posh Totty,

Oh my! You too! It's nice of you to let me know that I'm not the only one. Maybe we should start a club? ;o)

I hope you find the solution soon.

I've been having a lot more problems with insomnia lately too. I know part of it is stress, but the other part I think is that I'm also laying there trying to solve certain issues in my life that just don't seem to have a ready solution to them.

But I haven't yet started to record things in my sleep. Hey, maybe we could learn to BLOG in our sleep, so it would save us time during the day! :-)

When you can figure out the whole "sleep laundry" and "sleep dishwashing" and "sleep litterbox cleaning," I am SO there!

Hi Giggle Pixie,

Wouldn't it be nice if we could put the details of our problems into some kind of computer, and have it tell us the answer? Whoever creates that program will be a milti-billionaire.

Blogging in our sleep would be great too! Although I may have just done that. ;o)

Hi Pat,

Well, I'm working on it. If I figure it out, you'll be the first to know. ;o)

Well, you're not alone.

There have been times I've been reluctant to go to bed because it meant I'd have to get up the next morning and face some unresolved problem at work.

And there have been times I was afraid I wouldn't wake up in the morning, so I dreaded going to bed for that reason.

On top of that, I'm more of a night person, so if I go to bed too early, I end up not falling asleep right away and thinking about things and that can keep me up longer than if I had stayed up later and went to bed when I was actually tired.

You want pleasurable activity in bed? Have you tried scrabble? Ha ha!

Not really very funny though, but I've discovered that the LESS you concern yourself about it, the quicker you will get back to the right sleep pattern.

Hi dcr,

"And there have been times I was afraid I wouldn't wake up in the morning"

Wake up on time in the morning, or not wake up at all? Um, if it's that later then you might want to see someone about that.

Hi Babs (Beetle),

Well, I try not to be concerned during the day, but it catches up with me in the silence of the night.

Scrabble? I'm not good at word games. I get very frustrated. lol

I am SORRY to hear that. I will be sending you exhaustion.....perhaps that will help.

I had the insomnia thing a couple of years ago. I'm thankful it evetually went away.

I would sell a kidney for a Lazyboy. They are sooo comfortable.

With a TV set in the bedroom, if you cant fall asleep, the next best thing is to watch TV, but end up sleeping with the TV on.

At least you get to know the ending, ..can sleep recording..so far not able to do that yet..must learn..Hahaha :)

Awake In Rochester said...

Hi Dragonfly,

Hey, don't sell your kidney. Maybe you can get one second hand. lol

It's very comfortable. I bought it second hand many years ago. It looks a mess now, stuffings coming out, handle loose. But it still feels great. Even the footrest feels extra padded.

It must be in the water... I have a hard time sleeping lately too. Sleep though helps us solve problems and so I hope you get some rest soon.

I have that problem too. Once the clock strikes midnight I spring into action. It is ridiculous! But I read until exhaustion kicks in...and the book slaps me in the face as it falls from my grasp. Nothing will ever replace the joy of being nestled down with a good book...and there are so many good books that I will never run out!

Sounds like you have a problem that is keeping you awake. I hope you are able to settle it and then quiet your mind.

Your blog is so interesting!
Goodnight
