Have you ever seen a Ghost?

The following story has been altered, but is based on fact.

My good friend Bev Hanson lost her brother. As kids, we were neighbors. This was in the days when neighbors were treated like family. Our neighbors the Hanson's, shared birthdays & holidays with us. Bev was several years older then me. Her older brother Marvin was the brain of the family. Younger brother Bill was my age, and suffered an untimely death.

Bev was very pretty, and sociable. She was the Senior prom queen. Later in life she would believe that she had a 6th sense. She claimed to predict things that would come true.

Marvin was the brain of the family. He played chess at a very early age. His first memories were of being in a play pen. When he grew up, people would tell him that he should have been a college professor.

Bill was the baby of the family. He was about my age. A very likable, handsome man. Recently Bill was in a car accident that took his life. Bill was buried in the cemetery across from his home.

A week after the funeral Bev went over to Bills house to sort out his things. They needed to get rid of everything, and sell the house. She claimed that she saw Bill. She wouldn't say what he said, or did. But just that she had seen him.

A week later Marvin (the intellect) went to Bill's house to help sort out things. He said that he was sitting on the couch when Bill came right over and sat next to him. Bill said "Hi Bro". Then faded away.

If it had only been Bev that saw Bill I might have dismissed it. But Marvin? Marvin the brain? No way! I was shocked!

Could the ghost of Bill be in that house? Or maybe he came over from the cemetery across the street?

What do you think? Have you ever seen a ghost, or had an encounter with one?

Interesting. I certainly believe in Ghosts, Angels and Spirits. God speaks of them in the bible even. I have never personally seen a Ghost, but i do believe that I have an angel watching over me. :)

I was 7 when my grandfather died. I was staying at my aunt's house one night because my grandfather took a turn for the worst. After going to bed around 9ish, I awoke suddenly and looked at the clock--10:10. Then I looked in the doorway and saw my grandfather standing there. The next morning when my parents came to collect me, they sat me down and said that something had happened. I told them that I knew that papa had died at 10:10 the night before. They were completely blown away that I knew the exact time he died.

I can't say I have ever seen a ghost, but I have had two events that I cannot explain.

First was hearing a sound of something on the stairs, going down the stairs, when no one was there. And I am sure it was real because I was on the stairs at the time and whatever it was went past me.

The second one was the day my mother died. All I can say is there was and unexplained event that made me feel she was there with me.

Great post! I totally believe it.

My husband and son saw someone in our house the night my uncle died in a hospital about 20 minutes from our home.

My son said, "Mommy, there's a ghost in my room." I told him, "It's okay, honey, just go back to sleep." This uncle had terminal cancer and was like the grandpa he never had (since our parents are deceased.)

My husband always says he felt the presence, but our son saw it. It gave him a very calm feeling.

I never saw my father as a ghost, but after he died, I felt an enormous calm. I think he had something to do with that...or he was just hanging out in the house watching over me.

Hi RehabNurse,

Wow, that sends chills down my spine. It's interesting that everyone had a "calm feeling".

An odd thing just happened as I was reading your comment. A tune came into my mind. One that I have not heard before, and I was humming. I compose music, but it's been awhile. So songs come into my mind, but this one was so spontaneous. I was absentmindedly humming it before I realized that I have never heard that tune before. Maybe that means something to you, or maybe just a coincidence.

CREEPY! That would freak me out. I believe that you can see/feel ghosts.

My Dad just died about a year ago and we all had strange experiences, not of seeing him, but feeling him, or having weird things happen that only he would know how to do them, so that we would know it was him.

One night right after he died I know he was in my room though I couldn't see him. I felt the strangest feeling, and even the nearly sound asleep dog who never budges at night got up and starred at the space in my room where I thought my Dad was. It scared me at first, but I know my Dad was just checking in, so it was cool.

Hi Monster Librarian,

Welcome! What a cute name & pic!

Animals seem to be in better tune with things. I have had the feeling too. I think that I would freak out if I saw something.
